In the middle of the night, the sound of something splashing about in the creek could be plainly heard. For one that looked hard enough, they could make out the shape of a dog wading in the chilly water, seeming to just be trying to pass the time. And, she was. Firefly, they called her. Such a beautiful name for such a beautiful, fiery girl. It fit. Because was there ever one with as much spirit as Firefly? Hardly. The Doberman bitch wasn't fond of being up late, but tonight, she had been chased out of her shelter by a large group of strays. She had attempted to fight back, yes, but she was one tough Doberman...surronded by four large brutes. The fight wasn't what had made her run, though. No, Firefly would always fight back. What had made her flee? The idea that she had almost been raped. She had felt one of the male's paws wrap around her hindquarters when she had been forced to the ground once, and knew instantly what was going on. She had fought with a viciousness that she had not known in a while, and had gotten incredibly battered and bloody in the process, but at least she remained pure. The Doberman shuddered, shakey from the whole experience. This was exactly why no stray could be trusted.
Now I'm justified As I fall in line And it's hard to try When they're open wide

The milky crescent diamond hung high in the sky, silently listening to what the earthlings were up to. The night was cool with occasional sweet breezes blowing through the calm. No human was out near this place that night. Pfft, the sandy dog thought, If there were any ghosts, they would have been that of the canines.
Giving a fine toss of his head that discouraged a buzzing housefly, Onew continued his walk alongside the slippery, rocky banks of Little Creek. Humans were too suspiscious, so suspiscious that they gave the canines a good place to eat, sleep, breed and survive. It was no wonder that this town contained so many of them whilst dog-catchers seldom caught any of them. Treading lightly 'pon the sharp rocks, no sound reached the triangular audits that stood upright, save for the light clacking of rocks being banged together by his own paws. Letting out his pink tongue, Onew licked his muzzle and teeth, cleaning it of any remains. The rat had tasted good, though it did put up a hell of a fight with its feeble paws. He did not suffer any injuries, just a few coin-sized depressions here and there along his ruff. Now, as another breeze rushed to ruffle his boa, the story of the mouse was erased and his ruff was back to its original, stiff state. If there ever were a good hunting dog, Onew would have been pinpointed out, for his breed hunted everything, from deer to boar to cat to rat and mouse. He heard the minute whispers of the world and right then, he knew that something was not right, something was coming towards his way with steady movements. No, surely it was not the ghost? Backing up a little, as the water became more unseasy and the splashing got louder. He soon saw a large figure of a canine. Rolling his optics and wagging his tail, he started to move toward the dark silhouette. However, as that canine graced itself under a streetlight, Onew caught the fear and terror in the mahogany occulars. Gut feeling told him something was wrong, and though the canine was larger than Onew, the dog still made his way towards the figure, waiting for it to go onto the shore. As the figure not nearer, he shouted out in concern. Hey! You! Are you alright? Pacing about, he flahsed his crania left and right, encouraging the canine to get on shore.[/blockquote][/blockquote] Word count inc.codings: 472 Muse Level: average Comments: none.

The Doberman bitch did not know how long her paws had been making small splashing noises, how long her legs had propelled her forward, cranium held low to try and see anything that might cause a stumble. She was simply walking now, still thinking over her past experiances. Just the thought caused her lips to pull back, revealing a row of sharp ivory teeth as a low growl emitted from deep in her chest. The scratches on her body were throbbing, her mind racing. At least she had escaped. That had to count for something, right? The way she had fought, and escaped, that had to be brownie points. She had proved that was no one's toy, that she was absolutely not a pushover. Firefly had heard that this creek was haunted. Humans could be so foolish at times. Not once had she seen a ghost about, or even a trace of ones. It was so easy to spoke those darned humans. She could remember simply trotting towards the gate when she had guarded a company, sending people hurrying off down the street. Oh, the fear she had caused when she had actually practically ran into the gait, jaws snapping at the wire and ferocious barks and snarls escaping her muzzle! It had been quite a nice sight, seeing the humans curse and hurry away from her. She smiled slightly, but it did not last long. A figure of a dog was moving towards her, and she instantly froze, hackles raising and teeth being revealed as the figure grew ever closer on the shore. She could see that it was a brute, and her defenses only rose even quicker. She growled lowly and took a step back, beautiful brown eyes locked on the other canine bodice. " Hey! You! Are you alright?" His tone seemed nice enough, but she coulnd't be sure. Ears instantly perked forward, twitching, as she stared at him. Very hesitantly she let her lips slide back over her teeth, and relaxed slightly, though her fur was still slightly on edge. She moved onto the shore and took a step back, looking the male over before replying, hesitant. "I'm alright, now. I simply suffered a near-misfortune with a few stray brutes and it shook me a bit."

The baritone voice of the male was quickly lost over the creek. In fact, he wondered whether the canine had even heard it. The streetlight started to flicker and then, all was pitch dark. The shadowed dog came nearer and nearer, its shape growing larger. A sudden weak flare of light shone onto the raven figure and white gleaming ivories were shown, lips bared in a snarl of menance. The muzzle of the canine was black and tan. Onew immediately knew that this was a doberman, and if this were to be a fierce one, he would be the one in trouble.
His gut feel told him to stay put though and that he did, for the fact that this dog was not alright gave him a good cause to see whether his observations were correct. His brown paws moving back a polite step, Onew awaited the arrival of the canine to get on shore. As soon as the dog breached the shore, she took a hesitant step back and the Jindo Dog cocked his head to one side, wondering what on earth she was doing.
Finally, she was under a fair light and it was clearly obvious to Onew that he was no match for her, she overpowering him in terms of ferocity and built. Also, he was puzzled as to why she was seemingly afraid of him, indiscreetly eyeing him through brown occulars. A quavery female tone hit his audits and they moved forward ever so slightly, getting the undertone of her words. Onew was a male and like any other, he too had his waves of heat. Yet, he was a gentleman and would not violate another. Sypathetically, he spoke to the femme. Perhaps they did, but you're safe here. No coward would dare swim across the creek.
Deciding it was okay to move, he took two steps towards her, still mantaining a good distance of four metres away from here. I may be a brute, but I mean you no harm. My name's Onew. What's yours? He waited, his paws sinking into the soft sand and small rocks, his tail swaying from side to side gently and slowly.

Firefly
Firefly ran her eyes over the male again, still slightly tense. He didn't seem to be of much harm...but then again...well. If he would have wanted to attack her, he wouldn't have called out to her, would he have? He would have jumped at her when it was dark, and when she was unaware. So the only logical explination was that he really was no threat to her. Besides...she was a bit larger than he was. With these comforting thoughts in mind, she completely relaxed. When he spoke, her ears perked forward, and she looked at him curiously, not much minding that he had taken two steps forward. Perhaps they did, but you're safe here. No coward would dare swim across the creek. She glanced over at the water, and then nodded her black-and-tan hued head. "Yes, I do suppose you're right." She said considerately. And he was. No dog would dare cross the creek at a time like this. It was simply foolish, and if they did, they were asking for death. She looked back at him, and nodded as he introduced himself. "Onew?" She said as if trying the name out, and then she smiled. "My name is Firefly. It's very nice to meet you." She said genuinely.

Firefly. Lovely name, Onew complimented her back with a smile. Nice to meet you too.
Shifting his focus away from Firefly, Onew ran over the day's events in his mind, his occulars staring straight into empty space. He was not one who could multi-task. The day had been a pretty calm one and despite his normally extrovert and hyper personality, he had sunk into quietness for today. It was a good means of self-reflection and also, it paid to listen to others. Now, he turned and walked towards the Doberman femme, went past her and stared out into the creek. The gentle wind let Onew relax and he closed his optics for a while before talking again, still facing the creek.
Are you new around here? It was a simple question that Onew felt vital. A dog wouldn't normally get into such trouble if he or she was familiar with the area, for he did not really believe there existed any nasty bullies. Or perhaps, he had not met any yet.

Firefly
Firefly smiled when he complimented her name, watching him as he walked past her to the creek. She was not concerned about him being out of her periferal, because he did indeed seem like a very polite dog. So she wasn't exactly fussed, though her muscles did tense slightly of their own accord. She relaxed almost instantly, however, trusting him ever-so-slightly. It would be foolish for her to blow things out of porportion when Onew was simply viewing the creek. One thing Firefly had learned: never start uncalled for brawls. When she spoke her auds twitched, and she turned her cranium towards him. "Yeah, I am." She admitted with a quiet laugh. "Easy to tell?" She asked.
