Mercutio blinked, stunned that she had gotten out of the alley was so quick. He chuckled, glad that he could make her happy. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... He began to count swiftly in his head, taking three steps back and crouching slightly, preparing to run. ...6, 7, 8, 9... "Ten!" He sudden lurched forward, knowing that to catch up with her, he was going to have to put his swift, agile Border Collie side to work. He would also need his strength, however, to keep pushing himself since he muscled ached so.
He slid out of the alleyway, barely able to catch a glance of Scatter's tail as she turned down another alley. He gave chase, letting out a bark of warning to people on the street as he hurried down the alley, skidding out into the other street that it opened into. He paused, having lost sight of her, but assumed that she had went down a small alley to his right, and turned that way.
He was right. He could faintly smell her, but where was she? Grinning, he slowed to a slow and cautious walk, advancing further into the alley. She could be hiding behind one of the many trashcans, or could have went through the small hole in the gate at the end. Either way, he was going to find out.

Scatter Please please please She could hear him barking and she could tell that he had come into the smaller alleyway. She scrambled further back into her hiding spot as she heard him walking slowly. He would find her soon. She leapt up onto the trashcans in front of her, making them tip slightly. She then jumped off them and took off as soon as she hit the ground again. Going out of the alley and across the street, a car only just missed her which gave her quite a fright because she hadn't see it there. But she wasn't going to let it affect her game playing ability.
She kept running down the street, not looking behind her because she knew that it would slow her down and she already knew that he was behind her because he would definitely have heard the trashcans clattering to the ground when she jumped off of them if he hadn't seen it. She hadn't been sure where he was looking at the time since she hadn't been able to see him from her hiding spot. Playing this game had made her forget her sore muscles completely, but she would probably feel sore again after they were done playing. But for now all that was on her mind was getting away from him so that he couldn't catch her.

The sound of the clattering trashcans starled Mercutio, making him take a step back, raise his hackles, and begin to bare his teeth. But then a golden shape rushed past him and he whirled, realizing that it was Scatter. Before he could get out of the alley, he heard a car horn, and his heart skipped a beat Oh, God, no...
He shot from the alley so fast that he nearly ran straight into the street himself, and had to jump back, earning a honk from a car that would've bashed his head in had he not moved. Mercutio was relieved to see that there was no canine laying in the road, and even laughed when he noticed Scatter streaking down the other side of the road.
Mercutio sprinted across and turned onto the sidewalk, taking off after her. His legs were working furiously, practically gliding over the pavement and making the mix feel like he was flying. His muscles were rippling powerfully under his coat as they moved smoothly, pushing the brute forward.
I've never had so much fun!

Scatter Please please please Her tail was wagging slightly as she ran, though not enough to slow her down in any way. She kept sprinting, going as fast as she can. She could go for quite a long time before she would have to slow down. There was a small fence next to the sidewalk and she thought for a second before going further away from it then turning towards it and jumping over it easily. She was in some sort of a park now, or it looked like it anyway. For all she knew she could be in someone's yard.
She ran through it and behind some bushes, stopping to catch a breath as she listened to try and figure out where he was. She didn't know how far ahead she'd been or whether he'd seen her go in behind the bushes or not. She hoped that he hadn't though because then he might be able to catch her by surprise and get her. She was staying perfectly quiet though, not moving at all as she just listened. She would be able to get out from behind the bushes to either side if she did see him though, which was good.
She was loving this so far, except for the almost getting hit by a car part. That had been quite scary and not really something she wanted to happen again soon. She was wondering if he'd even crossed the road after her or not, she'd heard another car horn. Oh no, could he have been hit? She hoped not, she started getting slightly worried while she stood there and waited and was starting to think that she might need to check. Just to make sure.

Damn! That girl is fast!
Mercutio was pushing his muscles to the absolute limit, trying to catch up with Scatter. But she had such a headstart, and then again, she wasn't exactly slow. He began to loose sight of her, and tried to pick up the pace, but it was no use. Twice he stumbled, nearly falling, but managed to regain his balance at the last second and trudge on, panting as his muscles continued to ache. Now, it was a very dull throbbing, not so much as an ache, and the mix was hardly aware of it.
Indeed, Mercutio did not see Scatter turn and leap the small fence, or notice that she had hidden in the bushes. In fact, he streaked right past the gate, frowning as he tried to figure out where she had went. I can'tve possibly lost her. She wasn't that far ahead. He thought to himself, wondering if maybe the Retriever had taken an unexpected turn.
He knew she had when he spotted the gate of a quarantined building. Danger: do not enter. The sign flashed at his mind, and he had pleanty of time to stop, but he had been so distracted that he sprinted head-long into the gate. Crash! He bounced back a few feet, landing awkwardly, his backside on the ground and his forelegs still trying to support himself. With a yelp he scrambled to his feet, shaking himself and frowning.
That'll hurt in the morning.

Scatter Please please please When she heard a crash and a yelp she jumped slightly then looked a bit worried as she came out from her hiding spot. She walked over the fence, raising herself up onto her back feet and putting her paws on the fence so that she could see over it. She saw him shake himself and looked slightly relieved. She moved back a bit and went back onto all fours as she backed up then ran a step before jumping over the small fence again and going over to him. "Did you run into the gate?" She asked him almost playfully, her tail wagging a bit as she watched him. She was guessing that he had but she just asked anyway.
She knew that she was close enough for him to just tag her if he wanted but she didn't care. She could just get him back after that but she just wanted to make sure if he was still okay or not. She looked at the gate and the sign on it, not really knowing what the sign said or meant. She waited to hear what he would say and to see whether he would tag her or not. Either she was just really good at hiding and getting away or he wasn't the greatest at this game because usually she didn't manage to get away for this long before she was finally caught. Because the other dogs were usually faster than she was.

He was standing there, trying to wait for his head to stop pounding, when he heard a dog walking up behind him. Assuming it was Scatter, he did not grow defensive as he normally would. A moment later he heard her, and he chuckled. "I did. I was distracted and couldn't stop myself in time. Ultimately proving my stupidity." He said with a chuckle. He cast one last dark look at the building, before turning towards Scatter.
"Alright, so I'm horrible at this. And you're probably going to tag me fast, but it's worth a shot." He said, before nudging her lightly. He then bounded past her, picking up his speed until he was sprinting again, in the direction he had previously came from.

Scatter Please please please She heard what he said and wagged her tail and she felt him nudge her. She gave him a second before she set off after him, gaining speed with each step. A few people were starting to emerge but they didn't bother Scatter because they didn't seem like the scary ones from the night before and she just went around them easily. Keeping her eyes focused on him though so that she would be able to see where he went as she kept sprinting after him. She didn't really know how fast she would be able to catch him. It just depended on what he did and how fast he ran.
And she didn't think that running into a gate because you'd been distracted proved that you were stupid, she didn't think he was stupid either. He'd been smart enough to know what to do the night before to help her, and he'd been brave enough as well. Which impressed her and made her like him. Her legs weren't tired yet, even though she was panting slightly to get more air into her lungs while she ran. She didn't get tired fast, she always had a lot of energy because she was so playful. Even if she wasn't that fit or muscled.

Mercutio knew that if he wanted to escape from this one, he was going to have to be smart. She was fast, but perhaps he was just slow. Or, maybe it had been so long since he had sprinted, that he had lost his touch. He used to be a swift as her dear mother, may she rest in peace, yet now...he was disgracing her beautiful breed.
With that thought in mind, Mercutio began to push himself to the absolute limit. He would have streaked back across the street, had he not been scared that Scatter would follow, and possibly get hit. So he continued on his way, barking merrily. "Mommy, dog's!" "Oh, Kristy sweetie, come here! That one's a Pit, stay out of it's way." Mercutio glanced to the side, watching as a mother jerked her young child far out of his range. It nearly broke the mix's heart every time he heard this, every time he thought about how hated he was, but it could not stop his running now.
Suddenly an idea formed in his mind, and the mix abruptly turned, skirting around Scatter as swiftly as he could and running back the way he had came, past the mother and her child again. His legs were working furiously, muscles rippling as he fast-approached the quarantined building. This time, he was able to spot an area where the fence was rusted and sagging greatly, and with a mightly leap, the mix cleared it, running straight for the doors of the huge building. The doors were falling off of their hinges, that was obvious even though they were boarded up. But the wood was rotting, and Mercutio could make out a spot he would be able to squeeze through.

Scatter Please please please She was catching up to him. Well, until he turned around that was. She slid on the concrete as she tried to stop fast enough and she spun herself around a bit too fast, causing her to fall over before being able to get on all four feet and start running again. She set off after him, wondering where he was going. She was further behind than she'd been now and but she was close enough to see where he went. When he cleared the fence she didn't hesitate to follow and she cleared it too, but it hadn't been as easy as she'd hoped. When she landed her momentum threw her forward and she hit her nose on the ground with a slight yelp. But she just shook her head and set off again.
She stopped at the doors, moving from one side to the other before she spotted a hole to squeeze through as well. She managed to get through but the sound of her nails echoed in the empty building, giving her a fright. This was going to be one of those moments where she didn't like to be alone and she whimpered slightly as she looked around to see where he might've gone. She had backed up against the rotting doors, her tail not wagging anymore because it was between her legs. She had an uneasy look on her features too, she would've felt much better staying outside.
