Mercutio thought for a moment, trying to think of some of his favorite things. Sure, he loved a lot of things. But favorites? Well, he wasn't sure. Mercutio frowned, going over things in his head. It was unfortunate that Scatter couldn't come up with any, but he didn't blame her. He hardly could. Slowly, his mind began to form a small list of things, and he smiled, proud that he had been able to milk his brain of things that would normally seem so easy to think of.
"I love water." He started, and then paused, before continuing. "Warm weather, but I love snow, too. And puppies. I really like puppies." He said with a chuckle, feeling slightly embarassed at his last answer. But it was the truth. The mix's heart went out to all the adorable little buggers.

She listened to him, a small smile appearing on her features at the last thing on his list. She was lying down calmly now with her head resting lightly on her paws as she looked up at him still. "I like puppies too." She commented calmly, if he was embarrassed of the fact that he really liked puppies then that would be sad. She loved puppies because they were always so playful. She wanted puppies of her own, but she would never just say it out loud unless someone asked her if she wanted puppies or not.
She was quite happy not having any too though, not really wanting them desperately at all. She was happy so long as she had someone with her at all times, so long as she wasn't left on her own. She was a very dependent dog, not really being able to just fend for herself, she always needed someone. She would be a great mum though, because she rose to the challenge when someone else needed her, usually forgetting her own needs to help them and take care of them. She was never selfish and usually cared more about others than she did about herself.
Her mind got slightly distracted at the thought of puppies but she brought it back to reality as she raised her head and looked at him again. She'd thought of an answer for his question. "I have an answer now." She told him, getting up and going closer to him, a slightly unreadable expression on her face. "You." She told him, it was the truth. At the moment he was her favorite thing. He was there for her when she needed him which was pretty much the whole time since they'd met, and she was scarting to really care for him.

Mercutio smiled when she said that she liked puppies to. "They're just so...well, adorable. And sweet. I wouldn't mind puppies." He said thoughtfully as he glanced up at the sky. No, he really wouldn't. It would be fun, raising them and making sure their life was better than his. Being a father...well, it seemed like a promising thing. He couldn't see why his father hadn't wanted to. He could never imagine abandoning his puppies. But, then again, some dogs were simply horrid, while others were kind, caring, and light-hearted.
He glanced over at Scatter as she spoke, smiling when she said she had an answer. "Yeah?" He asked, watching as she moved closer. Her reply surprised him, and he blinked. "I'm really glad I met you, Scatter. I've had a lot of fun with you." He admitted, nudging her softly and smiling at her. So the hopeless romantic was finding himself a gal.
Aw, how...sweet.

She had heard what he had said about the puppies and a small smile stayed on her face as she let herself lean against him, though not enough to make him and herself fall over. She had fallen for him, not even having realized it at first but she could see it clearly now. She wondered how she could express that to him without actually saying it to him. She was pretty much over the whole thing of before, the fear having left her completely now so that she was back to being playful and happy. And the fact that she knew she loved him despite knowing that it was usually a bad thing to fall for a dog because that was the way most dogs got hurt, was making her even more happy.
She lay down in front of him, her tail wagging as she rolled over onto her back, smiling at him playfully and reaching towards him with her paws. "If you had puppies what would you name them?" She asked him playfully, her tail still wagging as she stayed where she was lying on her back, looking up at him even though it was making him upside down. Maybe if she kept him talking about puppies long enough he would get the idea that she liked him. And not just as a friend to play with either. She didn't really have an answer to her own question, she supposed that she would see what they were like first so that she could choose a name that matched them. But maybe he had a name or two that he wanted to find a puppy for..
Her legs were bent so that her paws were pulled close to her body now as she kept wagging her tail, it made light thumping noises as it hit the ground. It was taking a bit of balance to keep herself on her back and it was starting to not be so comfortable anymore so she let herself fall onto her side, turning her head so that she could watch him still though as she turned a bit more so that she was slightly on her stomach as well as her side. She was waiting patiently for him to answer her, watching him curiously. The smile staying on her face. Her mind was staying on the subject of puppies too, making her wonder about what her puppies would look like, maybe 'their' puppies. She wasn't going to let that thought slip out of her mouth though, she would keep it to herself.
She wondered whether they would have a long coat like hers or a shorter one like his, or maybe a mixture? She wondered about what color they would end up as too, since they were completely different colors as well. With her breed always being a golden tan color whereas she guessed his breed had different colors. She wondered whether they would end up looking odd, maybe be a completely mixture of the two of them with patches of long fur and patches of short with some parts of it black and white and other parts tan. She almost laughed at the image that she created in her mind but she managed to keep it in and stop herself from laughing.
What she did hope, thought, was that if they did have puppies they would end up brave like him instead of cowardly and scared of everything like her. She hoped that they would be nice puppies though, with good personalities. And they had to be playful, thought could at least inherit her playfulness. She also hoped that they would be strong puppies that could look after themselves so that they didn't constantly need someone else there with them like she did. Because it was a burden at times and she would never wish it on any other dog let alone her own puppies.
All these thoughts were making her even more excited about the time that she could have puppies, she couldn't wait until she did and she looked forward to it. This was another thing that she wasn't quite going to mention to him. Though if he wanted puppies she would happily agree without even thinking about it first. Because, as was mentioned before, she had realized that she'd fallen in love with him despite herself and it was turning her thoughts towards family. But she could be happy with just him as well, without puppies. Just as long as he didn't leave her.

He watched her as she shifted, chuckling slightly. Then, at her next question, he paused to think for a moment. If he had puppies...what would he name them? Well...this one was going to require a bit of thought, because he wasn't quite sure. Mercutio lowered his hindquarters into a sit, one ear erect and the other floppy as always. The Pit and Colie mix was running over a thousand names in his mind, but none of them jumped to him. There had to be one that stuck, just one that popped and made him smile happily when he thought of it...but, the question was, which name? And, was there even one like that? Surely there was. He just couldn't quite put a paw on it...
And then, it came to him. Of course! How could I be so stupid!" "Well," he started slowly, "I wouldn't know what to name all of them. I would have to see them first. But one of them, if a female, I would like to name Circe. She was my sister, and I think it'd be nice. I haven't seen her since we were very young." He said with a slightly sad smile, shaking his head once. Yes, he would name a puppy after his dear sister.
"There's this human book called The Odysessy. It's about this man that goes on a journey, and on his way home, he encounters a lot of troubles. I heard my mother speak of it, she had heard humans talking it over." He said with a chuckle. "Anyways, Circe was a Sorceress-- a human that can do magic. She turned half of the main characters friends into swine-- pigs. Mom said that she hoped Circe would learn to 'give men hell'." Mercutio chuckled, shaking his head slightly.
He glanced back over at Scatter, smiling affectionately. He began to wonder the same that she did: what would their puppies look like, if they had them? Would they favor her, or him? And who would their personality take after more? He couldn't be sure, and his imagination wasn't helping much, because...well, it was hard to imagine. Maybe they would have long fur, if his Border Colie genes skipped to them. Or maybe not. The fact that he couldn't think of this was odd, and slightly frustrating.
"What about you?" He asked, referring to the names. And then his thoughts jumped instantly back to puppies. He could only wonder if Scatter would ever want to have puppies with him. He frowned, bothered. He would never know until he asked. Taking in a deep breath, he spoke again. "How would you feel about...maybe just...one day having puppies with me? I understand if you wouldn't want to, of course..."

Scatter watched him while he thought, not saying anything as she just waited patiently for his answer. She listened to everything that he was saying, showing slight interest though her thoughts were still focused on puppies. She heard his question and her tail stopped wagging as she thought about it. "I don't know. Scooter for a male maybe.." She said, wagging her tail again slightly. When she heard the rest of his words her tail stopped wagging for a moment as she just stared at him for a short while.
She smiled up at him, staying where she was lying as her tail started wagging again, sweeping the ground underneath it as she watched him. She was trying to think of how to put the words that were running through her mind, wanting to say yes to him without maybe appearing too eager.. Heck, stuff that. She jumped to her feet within a moment and licked his face. "Of course." She told him happily as well before she looked down in an almost embarrassed way, just a little ashamed of seeming so eager to have puppies.
She looked at him again. "Why would you think that I wouldn't want to?" She asked him curiously, wondering when this would happen and when she would have puppies. She couldn't wait. The excitement showed in her eyes and on her expression. She would be happy to have puppies with him any time he wanted, she just really did want to have puppies and it would be even better to have puppies with him than with anyone else. Because she was really falling for him quite badly, he just seemed to be perfect for her.

Mercutio had never been so nervous in his life. He half-regretted asking, thinking that she would certainly say no. Perhaps he had fallen for her, but he doubted that the feeling was mutual. Gosh, he could be so foolish at times. He was completely still, slightly rigid as he watched her. Yes, she would say no, laugh at him and then walk off. She probably just considered him a friend, after all, nothing more. And then he would feel like a fool for quite some time. Story of his life.
But then she leaped to her feet and licked his cheek. "Of course." He couldn't believe it. Mercutio stood there, stunned for a moment. She had actually said yes. A grin suddenly spread, showing his teeth as his tail began to wag swiftly. "Really?" He asked, still beaming. Luck had actually been with him! Oh, she felt she same way he did! Mercutio, unable to control him, suddenly began to turn in very quick circles, barking happily. He then stopped, facing her again, and laughed happily.
When she asked why he thought she wouldn't want to, he laughed again. "I've never had much luck at life, you see." He said playfully, and then he licked her muzzle happily. "I'm so glad. It's all up to you when and what not, no hurry, because I'll wait as long as you'd like. But wow. I don't think I've ever been this happy!"

She stepped away from him when he started running in circles, watching him with an amused expression before she listened to his answer to her question. She smiled when he licked her muzzle, still looking slightly amused as she took in everything that he said. She wasn't sure why he was giving her the choice. She looked at him with an excited expression. "Do we have to wait..?" She asked, her voice quiet because she didn't want to see stupid for asking something like this. But she didn't really want to wait, she wouldn't be able to bear having to wait much longer for puppies. Now that he had asked and she had agreed. Wait, did this mean that they were mates now? If they were then she wouldn't mind one bit.
She waited for him to say or do something.. watching him with a slightly nervous expression. She wasn't completely sure what she had gotten herself into, but she really did like him and if they both wanted puppies then why shouldn't they have puppies as soon as they could. It wasn't like waiting would change her mind anyway, it was what she wanted. Even though she was extremely excited about it she was still slightly scared, because she wasn't really sure that she would know what to do and she didn't want to look like a complete idiot.. He might just decide to leave her then, because she wasn't good enough and such. Apparently she now had a new fear, the fear that he would leave her.. she didn't want that, she had already gotten to be so dependent on him that she wasn't sure what she would do without him.

Mercutio laughed heartily at her question, a grin still on his face. "No, love, we don't have to wait. Whenever you want to." He said quietly as he looked at her lovingly. He had truly fallen for Scatter. She was gorgeous, fun, and he just loved being around her. Weeks ago, he never would have thought he would be finding someone he would learn to love in a matter of days. Yet here he was, standing near a dog that was practically straight out of his dreams. It was truly amazing.
Mercutio was very excited, himself. He couldn't wait to start a family...the idea of puppies was just so exciting! Sure, he wasn't exactly an expert on being a father. After all, he had never had one himself. But he vowed to be better than his pathetic excuse for a dad. He would never leave his kids or Scatter. He would always be there to love and protect them, and that was a promise that Mercutio was very capable of keeping, he knew it.

Scatter listened to his words before looking at him again, smiling a shy little smile on her pretty face. Her tail was wagging only the slightest bit, happy but nervous. "Now?" She asked him, her voice almost a whisper as her tail wagged the slightest bit more. She was sure that this was what she wanted, it was just that she didn't really know what to expect that was making her nervous. Though she trusted that he would stay with her, there wasn't anything that he had done so far that would make her think he wouldn't stay. She was still just a little worried though, but that came with her fear of being alone and her new found fear of losing him. She kept her golden eyes focused on him, the look in them a mixture of things, among them love and nervous excitement as well as many other things. Which made it kind of hard to know what she was really thinking and feeling, but those two things kind of stood out from the rest of the emotions shown by her eyes. She was holding her head kind of low, though not in a sad way or anything like that, just in a slightly nervous way, her ears lifted slightly as she waited for him to speak. Wanting to hear what he would say but yet not wanting to hear it at the same time, though for what reason she wasn't completely sure. Maybe it was just because she was nervous that she was scared he might have changed his mind about this already. Though, with how happy he had seemed about her just saying yes suggested he wouldn't change his mind. It was a good thing that her mind didn't seem to cloud over with happiness, she could think perfectly clearly still, sort out her thoughts and emotions within the confines of her mind. She knew she loved him, she just needed to find a way to tell him that without being blunt and just spitting it out. Though maybe she would end up doing that anyway. Looking at what had happened before it seemed very likely. Maybe she just wasn't very good at being completely subtle around him.. That had to mean that she completely trusted him, right?
